a small glance

As I’m typing this, I am successfully avoiding grading student essays, my husband is serenading me a traditional Mexican song, Anthony Bourdain is educating us on the cuisine of Vietnam, & our pup Gatsby is taking his nightly place at Russ’ feet.

Our son Devonte is either at football practice, spitting a few lines with some friends, or across the living room from us watching TV & perusing facebook.

When I started this blog, I thought “what a cool way to keep track of my day-to-day workings.”

It’s gotten to mean something a little more than just a day-to-day musing. I’ve grown with many of you – my readers. We’ve shared together. Laughed together. Cried together. I introduced you to Kibera. You introduced me to a community I never thought possible. I even jumped feet first into a manuscript spinning in my head.

I kind of like it.

This is my life. Interesting? Well that is for you to decide. I don’t promise to shatter any of your world views or offer any prolific insights. I do promise to offer a bit of myself as I attempt to find my way with an urgent desire to change the world.
